Saute Chayote

One of the dish that I like even though it is spicy!

I don’t really like spicy dish but I have some exceptional and this dish is one of it!
If you go to Semarang, a city at Central of Java, Indonesia, you will find this dish in Semarang Chicken Rice! Hopefully one day I can share the recipe of Semarang Chicken Rice here 🙂
Well, let’s see what we should do to make this dish.
Don’t worry, it is simple and easy to make! The most important is that this dish is so tasty!
Stir Fry Chayote
2 Chayote (cut into sticks shape)
Coconut Milk
1 lemon grass (smash)
1 bay leaf
2cm Galanga (Smash)
1 big red chili (thinly slice)
200 ml water
Puree Ingredients:
5 cloves shallots
3 cloves garlics
3 big red chili
1/2 tsp coriander
1 cm turmeric (you can use turmeric powder)
1 tsp cooking oil
1 tbs water
  • Heat the pan and saute the pureed ingredients, until it smells nice, add galanga, lemon grass and bay leaf. Mix well.
  • Add in chayote mix well and add water.
  • Add salt and lower the heat and let it be until chayote become tender.
  • Add coconut milk little by little until you think it is tasty enough, keep stir it until all cooked.
  • Ready to serve

  1. I tried chayote for the first time when I was in Mexico! When I saw them at the local markets I was intrigued at how they looked haha 🙂 they’re supposed to be really healthy!
