Bulgogi (Korean BBQ Beef)

“After our busy day, it will always be good to have our family dinner together.” — Yukusan — 

I love to watching Korean drama. And my family loves to eat Korean food. But we cannot always eat outside. So I decided to try making this dish, bulgogi.

I tried to make this dish and I found it is not difficult. I also prepare one of the side dish that they also like it so much! The anchovies side dish. I will post the recipe on my next post. It is very easy!

But let’s we focus on this bulgogi for now…

Here is the recipe if you want to try it 🙂


Bulgogi (Korean BBQ Beef) 
Ingredients: 
1 pack of slices rib eye beef meet (about 2 pounds)

1 carrot – thinly slices and cut into stick shapes

1 bunch of bok choy (Shanghai green) – cut into smaller

1 Yellow sweet Onion – thinly slices 

3 Green Onion – cut into 2 inch pieces


Marinade:
6 tbs soy sauce

3 tbs beef stock (or water)

4 tbs honey

2 tbs mirin (non-alchohol)

3 cloves garlic (minced) 

2 tbs sesame oil

2 tbs roasted sesame seeds

Methods:

  1. Mix all the marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Add the meat, carrot, green onion and Onion to the marinade and mix it until all are mixed well. Marinade the meat for about an hour. 
  2. Heat the fry pan, put a little bit sesame oil, add the marinade meat cook it until the meat all cooked, add the vegetable (Bok Choy), cook for a while until all cooked and ready to serve with warm rice. 
  3. I also add seawed and dried anchovies to be served together on the dining table.

Isn’t it simple?

Here is the short story about our dinner with this dish.

Some of the Korean restaurant here will give you yakult when you asked for the bill.

One day, I cook this Bulgogi with two side dish Myulchi Bokkeum (Anchovies) and Seaweed.

and I also told my kids that I have yakult in the fridge and will give it to them when they finish their dinner.

Kids commented that they feel like they eat at a Korean Restaurant. When they finished their dinner, they said: “Bill please!” They pretended that they had their dinner at the restaurant.

And I gave them yakults, they pretended to take out some money from their pockets to pay their dinner!

We all laughed together!
